Rebate programs for community buildings

Rebate programs1 and support are available for Indigenous communities to improve the energy efficiency of buildings such as administration offices, health and recreation centres, friendship centres, schools, daycares and multi-unit residential buildings that provide housing for community members. Rebates are available for upgrading existing buildings as well as new construction projects.

Please note there are final deadlines to apply for certain gas rebates below:

  • Eligible equipment must be installed and all invoices must be dated on or before December 31, 2023.
  • You have up to 12 months from the installation invoice date to submit your rebate application (December 31, 2024, at the latest).

Commercial energy assessment no cost
  • A free walkthrough energy assessment with a FortisBC consultant to identify low- and no-cost energy conservation measures and potential energy-efficiency upgrades you can make. 
High-efficiency gas boilers up to $75,000 per unit
  • Please note final deadlines to apply for high-efficiency gas boilers.
  • For eligible commercial boilers.
High-efficiency gas furnaces up to $1,000 per unit
  • Please note final deadlines to apply for high-efficiency gas furnaces
  • For eligible furnaces in existing small commercial buildings that are between 95 and 99% AFUE (annual fuel utilization efficiency)
  • add a connected thermostat for an additional $150 rebate 
 
High-efficiency gas water heaters varies
  • Please note final deadlines to apply for high-efficiency water heaters.
  • For eligible commercial storage tanks, water supply boilers and tankless water heaters
Social Housing Retrofit Support Program varies
  • Please note final deadlines to apply for the Social Housing Retrofit Support Program. 
  • Access funding for energy studies to identify upgrades in existing multi-unit residential buildings that provide housing for income-qualified residents, rebates for energy conservation measures, and  implementation support funding to help ensure upgrades meet quality standards.

High-efficiency gas boilers up to $75,000 per unit
  • Please note final deadlines to apply for high-efficiency gas boilers.
  • for eligible commercial boilers.
High-efficiency gas water heaters varies

  • For eligible ENERGY STAR commercial refrigerators, freezers, display cases, motor systems, controls and ice machines.
