Energy-efficiency programs for community buildings
We have rebates, programs1 and support for energy-efficiency improvements and upgrades to community buildings such as administration offices, health and recreation centres, schools and daycares. Rebates are also available for new construction projects.

Commercial performance new construction | up to $500,000 | Rebates available when constructing community buildings, such as mixed-use and multi-unit residential buildings that achieve a higher energy performance than minimum BC Building Code. Note: some exceptions do apply. |
High-efficiency natural gas boilers | up to $75,000 | Rebates available for eligible commercial boilers. |
High-efficiency natural gas furnace | up to $1,000 | Install an eligible furnace between 95 and 99 per cent AFUE; add a connected thermostat for an additional $150 rebate (Note: only for existing small commercial buildings.) |
High-efficiency natural gas water heaters | up to $21,000 | Rebates available for eligible commercial water heaters. |
Social Housing Retrofit | varies | Funding is available for energy studies to identify appropriate upgrades, as well as implementation funding to help ensure upgrades meet quality standards. (Note: only for existing apartment buildings) |
The following programs are only available to FortisBC electricity customers.

Electric heat pump water heater | $1,000 per unit | Rebates available for ENERGY STAR® certified heat pump water heaters. |
Electric air source heat pump | up to $600 per ton | Rebates available for cold climate and packaged terminal heat pumps. |
Foodservice and laundry | up to $6,600 per unit | Rebates available for ENERGY STAR cooking equipment, dishwashers, clothes washers and ventilation systems installed in a community kitchen and/or laundry facility. |
Refrigeration equipment | up to $1,450 per unit | Rebates available for ENERGY STAR refrigerators, freezers, display cases, motor systems, controls and ice machines. |
