Meter exchanges will take place community by community throughout the project and are expected to be complete by 2028. As we make progress, you can review updates here.
Retrofits for propane meters for customers in Revelstoke are underway. All propane customers will have current meters retrofitted so they can communicate wirelessly, rather than exchanged with an advanced meter. This means technicians will fit current meters with an attachment called a SmartPoint transceiver.
A key difference between an advanced gas meter and existing meters equipped with the SmartPoint attachment is that the retrofitted meters will not include the remote shut-off feature. Learn more about the difference between a meter exchange and a retrofit on our project detail page.
We’re continuing to exchange existing meters with wireless advanced meters during the spring and summer seasons. During this period, booking appointments won’t usually be necessary. If the meter at your address requires an appointment, we’ll attempt to contact you to arrange one. Please keep your account information updated to make it easier for us to contact you. We’ve reached an exciting project milestone: 100,000 advanced gas meters are now connected to our secure and private network. At a later date when the network is activated, the meters will be able to transmit gas consumption data wirelessly, requiring fewer visits to customer properties to read meters manually. In the future, this functionality will also grant customers access to the data to help inform decisions about their gas usage.
