About natural gas

Curious about the properties of natural gas, and hydraulic fracturing? Get natural gas facts.

Your bill is based on the amount of energy you use, measured in gigajoules. Learn about gigajoules: how natural gas is measured.

We transport natural gas to the US, and receive storage gas from the US using FortisBC Huntingdon Inc. (HIPCO) natural gas facilities.

About liquefied natural gas (LNG)

Liquefied natural gas is a vital source of backup energy supply for the Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island and low-emission fuel for ships that can reduce one of the largest sources of air pollution in our region.
