Electricity rates

On January 1, 2021, FortisBC's electric rates are increasing by 4.36 per cent on an interim basis.

Residential and some commercial customers may see additional changes to rates as we continue to return to single, flat rates as part of our approved rate design application.

Residential rates

Bi-monthly residential service:

  • Customer Charge $37.20 based on 60 day billing period.
  • First 1,600 kWh are billed @ 11.601¢ per kWh.
  • Additional kWh are billed @ 14.118¢ per kWh.

Commercial rates

Small commercial service:

This rate is for non-residential customers whose electrical demand is generally not more than 40 kW and can be supplied through one meter.

  • Customer Charge $48.49 for a 60 day billing period.
  • All kWh are billed @ 10.54¢ per kWh.

Commercial service:

This rate is for non-residential customers whose electrical demand is generally greater than 40 kW but less than 500 kW and can be supplied through one meter. A single electricity rate is in effect as of January 1, 2021.

  • Customer Charge $56.92 based on 30 day billing period.
  • Demand Charge of $11.97 per kW of billing demand above 40 kW
  • All kWh billed at 7.275¢ per kWh.

The above rates are subject to a 1.5% late payment charge.
