Our Reconciliation Vision

We strive to deliver a stronger energy future for B.C., which includes Reconciliation as a priority within our business. We seek to build strong, respectful, authentic partnerships that respect Indigenous knowledge and traditions. We work collaboratively to create an organization where Indigenous Peoples’ rights and title, cultures, voices and lived experiences are respected and valued, and Indigenous knowledge is meaningfully incorporated into our work, and our Reconciliation journey.

Engagement process

As part of its ongoing commitment to Reconciliation, FortisBC met with Indigenous leaders and representatives across the province to seek feedback on its Reconciliation Strategy. These conversations were grounded in respect, transparency, and a shared desire to build stronger relationships. The insights gathered from these engagements have helped shape FortisBC’s approach, ensuring it reflects the priorities, perspectives, and lived experiences of Indigenous communities. FortisBC reaffirms its commitment to Reconciliation through meaningful and ongoing engagement with Indigenous communities across British Columbia.

Key themes

Key themes from external engagement sessions have been incorporated into the Strategy going forward.

FortisBC also gathered perspectives from its Indigenous Employee Circle, whose lived experience and cultural insight provided meaningful internal input and helped inform the employment pillar.

Our gratitude

We extend our sincere gratitude to the Indigenous leaders and representatives whose guidance, insights, and contributions have helped shape this Reconciliation Strategy. Your contributions have played a vital role in shaping FortisBC’s Reconciliation Strategy and commitments. These perspectives will continue to guide our actions and inform the ongoing development of FortisBC’s framework for Reconciliation, helping us move forward with purpose and accountability.
