What is Renewable Natural Gas?

Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) is a lower carbon energy that can help reduce overall greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.

  • How is RNG made? When bacteria break down organic waste from sources such as landfill sites, agricultural waste and wastewater from treatment facilities, they produce a biogas mostly made of methane. Our suppliers capture and clean the biogas to create RNG.
  • How much does RNG cost? The cost of the voluntary RNG program depends on the blend you choose. You can designate five, 10, 25, 50 or 100 per cent of your gas use as RNG.
  • How can I sign up for RNG? Signing up for the voluntary RNG program is simple. Log in to Account Online, select Renewable Natural Gas under the Manage services menu and follow the steps to subscribe.
