  • The domestic hot water system’s energy source must be supplied by FortisBC.*
  • The controls must be listed on our qualified product list.

Advanced rooftop unit (RTU) controls

RTU capacity:
<15 tons - $350/ton
15 to ≤ 25 tons - $200/ton

  • Buildings must have a single-zone, packaged HVAC unit (with constant speed fan) with an existing integrated economizer.
  • Specification sheet must be provided.
  • Rebate cannot be combined with demand control ventilation or economizer rebates.
  • This offer is available to FortisBC gas customers under any rate class except Rate 1.

Direct digital controls (DDC) and building energy management systems (BEMS)

Higher of $0.13/sq. ft. GFA ($1.40/sq. m.) or $60/controller

  • Buildings must not have existing DDC/BEMS.

Demand control ventilation

Higher of $0.01/sq. ft. ($0.11/sq. m.) or $225/sensor

  • The system must be a constant volume HVAC system and compliant with ASHRAE 62.1.
  • The system is not eligible where HRV/ERV is in use.
  • This offer is available to FortisBC gas customers under any rate class except Rate 1.

Dual enthalpy economizers

RTU capacity:
<5 tons - $75 per unit
5-15 tons - $225 per unit
>15 tons - $300 per unit

  • This offer applies to HVAC systems without an existing economizer.
  • This is available to commercial or industrial FortisBC electricity customers or municipal electricity customers of Grand Forks, Penticton, Summerland or Nelson Hydro.

Energy management systems: guest room occupancy

Higher of $0.28/sq. ft. ($3.01/sq. m.) or $105/suite

  • The system is for guest rooms with manual heating/cooling temperature set-points and fan on/off/auto thermostat controls.
  • This offer is available to FortisBC gas customers under any rate class except Rate 1.

Fault detection and diagnosis (FDD)

$0.01/sq. ft. GFA ($0.11/sq. m.)

  • The building must be equipped with a DDC system and have dedicated facility operations staff.
  • This offer is available to FortisBC gas customers under any rate class except Rate 1.

Outdoor air reset controls

$335/unit

  • This applies to any size boiler with no existing reset controls or lockout.
  • This offer is available to FortisBC gas customers under any rate class except Rate 1.

Adaptive optimal start measures

$60/unit

  • This applies to existing heat pump systems that provide domestic hot water or space heating and cooling.

*Includes Grand Forks, Penticton, Summerland and Nelson Hydro.

  1. You must be a FortisBC gas customer under any rate class except Rate 1 and/or a commercial or industrial FortisBC electricity customer or municipal electricity customer of Grand Forks, Penticton, Summerland or Nelson Hydro.
  2. You must be a long-term leaseholder of an existing commercial or industrial building, or a builder/developer or owner of a new commercial or industrial construction project.
  3. You must submit an application and supporting documentation no later than 365 days after the purchase date of the product(s) (as shown on the paid invoice) or installation date, whichever is first.
  4. The invoice must be dated on or after November 17, 2025. This requirement does not apply to connected thermostats or domestic hot water recirculation controls.
  • Purchase and install eligible equipment/products. Note: some products may be eligible for point-of-sale FortisBC rebates. Visit our Trade Ally Network equipment supplier directory and look for this  Instant rebate icon.
  • Alternatively,  apply online for HVAC and building controls rebates with the following information:
    • your FortisBC gas or electricity account number or a municipal electricity account number from Penticton, Summerland, Grand Forks or Nelson Hydro
    • your email
    • scanned or pdf copies of all paid receipts for the purchase and installation of products relevant to the rebate you are applying for
  • Ensure all receipts are marked “paid,” clear, legible, itemized and indicate relevant information such as brand, model number and any other required information in your application.
