Equal Payment Plan
The Equal Payment Plan helps you avoid seasonal fluctuations on your bill with 12 equal payments and starts the month you sign up.
Signing up is easy
Simply log in to Account Online and select Equal Payment Plan from the Payment options menu. Then, continue to follow the steps.
How the plan works
Using the natural gas or electricity use at your address over the past year, we calculate a monthly average. You’re then charged 12 equal payments.
For natural gas customers: the payment amount is reviewed every three months and can be adjusted up or down to reflect significant changes in the weather, usage and rates. At the end of the billing year, you'll receive a charge or credit for the difference between the monthly payments and the cost of natural gas you've actually used.
For electricity customers: the payment amount is reviewed after 12 months of being enrolled in the plan. Your actual usage is compared to the amount billed and divided by 12 to get a monthly average. This difference is added to or subtracted from your current payment amount.
Both natural gas and electricity customers are then re-enrolled for the next 12 months at the new equal payment amount.
To qualify for the plan, you must be a FortisBC electricity customer or a natural gas customer classed as Rate 1, 2 or 3 and have an up-to-date account.
If you’re a new customer, your 12 equal monthly payments will be based on the historical consumption at your address or the average consumption for customers in the region and current rates.
