
Natural gas steam boiler rebates
Improve your steam plant’s energy performance and qualify for a rebate of up to $49,000 by installing a new high-efficiency natural gas steam boiler, or when making energy-efficiency upgrades to a new or existing steam boiler system.
Eligibility
- You must be a FortisBC natural gas customer under any rate class except Rate 1.
- You must be a property owner or long-term leaseholder of an existing building
or a builder/developer or property owner of a new construction project. - Steam boilers must be used to meet your site's steam loads, e.g. process load, sanitization or space heating. Steam boilers installed to meet other operational needs (e.g. backup, standby or secondary boilers) are not eligible.
- The steam boilers must use natural gas only.
- Purchase date of products (as shown on the paid invoice) must be after February 1, 2019.
- You must submit an application and supporting documentation no later than 365 days after the purchase date of the product(s) (as shown on the paid invoice).

How to apply
- Contact a gas or mechanical contractor, licensed with Technical Safety BC, to install your boiler(s).
- Complete your steam boiler rebate application and email it to industrialrebates@fortisbc.com within 365 days of the purchase date (as shown on the paid invoice). Be sure to provide copies of the fully paid invoice including make and model number of the eligible measures purchased and installed.
- Once approved, you should receive your rebate within six to eight weeks.

Thermal energy service providers (TESP)
If thermal energy will be supplied to the site by a thermal energy services provider (TESP)1, you’ll need to complete a TESP declaration, and additional processing fees may apply. Please contact your key account manager for more details.
1A TESP is an individual or organization, other than the participant, who owns thermal energy generating assets such as eligible water heaters for the purpose of selling the thermal energy they generate to the participant.
