Equal Payment Plan

The Equal Payment Plan starts the month you apply and helps you avoid seasonal fluctuations on your bill with 12 equal monthly instalments.

Eligibility

The Equal Payment Plan is available to Rate 1, 2 and 3 customers whose accounts are up-to-date. Participation for all other customers is subject to review and approval by FortisBC.

How the plan works

We use your natural gas use over the last 12 months to estimate your usage and divide your total charges into 12 instalments. Monthly payments for new customers are based on either historical consumption at the address or average consumption for commercial customers in the region and current rates.

We continue to read your meter to keep track of the amount of gas used. Your bill shows the volume of gas you have used and the cost, as well as the Equal Payment Plan instalment billed.

The monthly instalments are automatically reviewed every three months and can be adjusted up or down to reflect significant changes in the weather, your gas usage or gas rates.

At the end of the billing year, you'll receive a charge or credit for the difference between the monthly instalments billed and the cost of the natural gas you've actually used. You are automatically re-enrolled for the next 12 months at your new monthly amount.
