How do I apply to become a trade ally?

What are the benefits of joining the Trade Ally Network?

Benefits include access to co-op advertising funds and a logo and truck decals identifying you as a Trade Ally Member to help raise your profile in the communities you serve, as well as an annual industry training allowance and a listing on our searchable, online contractor directory.

Is there a cost to join?

​There is no cost to join the Trade Ally Network.

Does FortisBC provide reimbursement for advertising activities?

Yes, you’ll have access to co-op advertising funds to help reduce your marketing expenses while enhancing your profile in the communities you serve. This advertising must promote the sale of or services related to high efficient products and energy-efficiency measures.

How will I find out if I’m accepted into the Trade Ally Network?
Upon receipt of your completed application form and documentation, we will advise you by mail of your acceptance in the Trade Ally Network.
What are the Trade Ally Network’s insurance requirements?

The Trade Ally Network requires contractors to maintain a minimum of $2 million public liability insurance and liability insurance in the amount of $1 million for each vehicle you operate. Trade allies must also have WorkSafeBC or third party disability coverage.

Why do you require proof of liability insurance coverage?
We require proof of your liability insurance coverage ($2 million minimum required) to verify you carry the type and amount of insurance that meets our minimum requirements. All trade allies must maintain this amount of public liability insurance for as long as you are registered with the Trade Ally Network.
Do I need a contractor’s licence to apply to the Trade Ally Network?

Yes, all trade allies are required to have a contractor licence, a copy of which must be submitted with your Trade Ally Network application.

Where can I learn about rebate program updates, news, training opportunities and other Trade Ally Network-related information?

The rebates and offers section of our website has current information on all of our Conservation and Energy Management programs. We also produce a quarterly newsletter mailed directly to all contractors registered with Technical Safety BC which is available online. Trade Ally Network members also receive a quarterly enewsletter. The newsletters include current program information, information on FortisBC marketing campaigns and contests and contractor training and tools. As a Trade Ally, you’ll also receive advance email notifications of new programs being launched so you have the advantage of telling customers first what rebates and programs are coming.
