Shopping for a new clothes washer, dryer or refrigerator? With rebates from $50 to $250 on qualifying ENERGY STAR® models, it’s easier to upgrade to high efficiency and save on your energy costs year after year.

Are you a BC Hydro or City of New Westminster electricity customer?

From October 5 to November 16, 2018, we’re offering appliance rebates with BC Hydro on fridges, clothes washers and dryers, including natural gas dryers. See BC Hydro’s website for details and to apply.

Are you eligible?*

  1. You must be a residential FortisBC or municipal** electricity customer. 
  2. You must purchase a qualifying ENERGY STAR clothes washer, dryer and/or refrigerator.
  3. The appliance(s) must be purchased by December 31, 2018.
  4. You can submit a maximum of two rebate applications per appliance type (clothes washer, dryer or refrigerator) per household. 
  5. Applications must be submitted within 60 days of the appliance purchase.

Available rebates

Rebates are offered only on ENERGY STAR certified appliances that achieve the highest ratings for efficiency. To ensure the appliance you choose is eligible for a rebate, check the lists of qualifying models below or consult your retailer before making a purchase.***

***FortisBC is not responsible for any costs that are incurred as a result of a failure by customer to meet the eligibility criteria or otherwise comply with the terms and conditions. 

How to apply

  1. Review the program terms and conditions
  2. Purchase and pay for your qualifying appliance(s) by December 31, 2018.
  3. Within 60 days of your purchase, apply online for your rebate with the following information: 
    • your FortisBC or municipal electricity account number from Grand Forks, Penticton, Summerland or Nelson Hydro 
    • your email
    • scanned copies of all paid receipts (Make sure they are clear, legible, itemized and indicate all relevant information such as the brand, model number and any other required information for your application.)
  4. If you are a FortisBC electricity customer, you will receive a rebate as a bill credit (it will appear on your electricity bill as ESWASH, ESDRYE and/or ESFRID). Municipal electricity customers in Grand Forks, Penticton, Summerland and Nelson will receive a rebate cheque. 
  5. Applications may take up to 90 days to process.
