Are you moving?

Log in to Account Online at least two business days in advance and follow a few simple steps to let us know if you’d like to start or stop your service or if you’re moving.

Moving in

If you’re a FortisBC natural gas customer and you’re moving into another business location serviced with natural gas, you’ll keep the same account number. We’ll simply transfer your account to your new address. Log in to Account Online to submit your request to move your service.

There is a $25 application fee when moving or opening a new account. New commercial customers are also required to pay a security deposit. Existing commercial customers opening a second location that already have a security deposit on file for three years will not have to pay a security deposit.

Moving out

​Log in to Account Online to submit your request to stop your service while you’re still at the address on your account.

Your meter is unique to the property and your consumption does not follow you to the new address. This means your old meter reading and your new meter reading will not match.

Once service has ended, we’ll send you a bill for the previous location.

Include the following when you submit your application:

  • quantity and type of natural gas appliances to be connected
  • your delivery pressure
  • name and phone number of your heating contractor.

To meet your request, we require a minimum lead time of three weeks for the Lower Mainland (Metro Vancouver), four weeks for the Interior, five weeks for Vancouver Island, Squamish and Whistler.

Note: some installations may require substantial planning and will not fall within these timeframes. In these instances, we will have a planner contact you regarding your project.

Removal of gas service

To have gas service removed, (e.g. for a building demolition) submit the gas abandonment application form using the online gas application form or download a PDF version and submit it by phone, fax, mail or email. Or call us toll free at 1-888-224-2710.

Submit your removal request form ahead of time. Allow a minimum of four weeks for the Lower Mainland (Metro Vancouver), four weeks for the Interior and five weeks for Vancouver, Squamish and Whistler.
