What’s a heat pump water heater?

These water heaters work by capturing warmth from a home’s ambient air, using it to heat the domestic water. And better yet, they are up to 200 per cent efficient. That means a family of four could save on average 1,100 kWh of electricity per year, or about $145.*

Qualifying models

The heat pump water heater must be tier 2 or higher and sized correctly as per the Northwest Energy Efficiency Alliance (NEEA) Northern Climate specification. Your contractor can help you select a qualifying model.

Find a heat pump installation contractor

We recommend you have your heat pump water heater installed by a TECA Quality First Contractor or HRAI Member Contractor or AScT Mechanical Technologist. You can find a contractor through our Contractor Program.
