Power generation incentive

​Program Update

Changes to the BC Greenhouse Gas Reduction (Clean Energy) Regulation now make it easier for FortisBC to help companies experience the benefits of natural gas for remote heat and power generation applications. FortisBC can provide up to 90 per cent of the incremental cost of upgrading to either compressed or liquefied natural gas (LNG) versus the equivalent diesel powered generation application. FortisBC is accepting applications from January 1, 2018 to December 31, 2018.

Companies operating remote heat and power generation in BC.

How to apply

  1. The completed application form, signed by the applicant, must be submitted to by 11:59 (PST) on December 31, 2018. Late applications will not be considered.
  2. Once awarded, successful applicants must sign a conversion contribution agreement with FortisBC prior to submission of a purchase order for a natural gas power generator or natural gas conversion kit.  To obtain the contribution agreement, please contact Arvind Ramakrishnan, FortisBC manager, customer solutions NGT and regional LNG, at 604.592.8210 or

Incentive calculation

The incentive program provides a base incentive of 25 per cent of the incremental capital cost between a qualifying natural gas generator and an equivalent diesel generator or the cost of the conversion kit. Some customers may be eligible for additional incentives, for up to 90 per cent of the incremental cost.

Evaluation process and additional criteria

Applicants must meet the following minimum criteria:

  • Equifax Credit Information Score of 30 or less
  • Equifax Payment Index of 45 days or less

Incentive awards will be made at the entire discretion of FortisBC.
