Water heaters

Natural gas water heaters help homebuyers tap into a luxurious lifestyle

Hot baths. Long showers. Clean dishes and clean clothes. Your homebuyers will appreciate the comfort and convenience that comes with a natural gas water heater.

Install the correctly sized natural gas water heater for home use and you’ll not only maximize efficient use, but you’ll also help homeowners keep their monthly energy bills to a minimum.

Benefits of natural gas water heaters

Tank style water heaters

  • direct fired and indirect models available
  • recover up to twice as fast as comparable electric models
  • allow for multiple hot water appliance uses at once

Tankless water heater

  • space saving and compact
  • heat water on demand
  • can save energy

Types of natural gas water heaters

Tank style water heaters

Tank models provide substantial flows and quick recovery times, so households have enough hot water to perform multiple, simultaneous tasks. That means residents can shower, do laundry and run the dishwasher all at the same time.

Hot water tanks are common in Canadian households and hold between 115 and 230 litres of hot water that’s always ready when needed.

Tankless water heaters

These water heaters, also known as instantaneous water heaters, are another option to save space and energy. You’ll save on floor space because you won’t require space to house a hot water storage tank. These compact units are wall mounted and heat water on demand.

Tankless water heaters heat only as much water as is needed for the task at hand. That saves energy. When considering these models, check their heating capacity. Some models may be too small to support more than one hot water appliance at a time.

Indirect water heaters / storage tanks

If your development needs more water heating capacity, consider a boiler system with an indirect water heater. These systems can be stand alone or use hot water generated by the same boiler that provides heat to the home. They are appropriate for larger homes, whirlpool bathtubs and central systems for condominiums.

Indirect water heaters can last a very long time when they are made of stainless steel. They also provide higher capacity and greater efficiency. And because they work centrally, you can save space by minimizing the number of large heating appliances needed in your development.

Combo system

A combo system provides heating for both water and living spaces from the same unit. Economical to install, it uses a natural gas water heater in combination with

  • a fan coil
  • hydronic baseboard, or
  • in-floor radiant heating

A fan coil provides forced air heating much like a furnace, but can be installed in places where a furnace can not.
