Community investment, Employee volunteering

On July 23 & 24, the FortisBC Power Hitters participated in the 8th Annual Bats for a Cause ball tournament in Kelowna, benefiting the BC Children's Hospital. Between corporate donations and fundraising, the team donated a total of $10,800!

The team of 12 employees, both current and past, played six games over the weekend, smiling through the sun, heat and a couple close scores. The tournament had a great turnout, with 22 teams participating and collectively donating $86,062.56 to the BC Children's Hospital! As the only pediatric hospital in the province, these donations help all children who are seriously ill or injured get the care they need. Specifically, money raised enables the hospital to meet their challenge of keeping up with technological advancements in equipment and treatment.

"Thank you again for the amazing support over the years and congratulations on winning the Top Team Donations award again. The FortisBC Power Hitters, led by Annette Brown, are true champions for both Bats For A Cause and the BC Children's Hospital Foundation." - Angela Burnell, organizer, Bats for a Cause ball tournament.

FortisBC supports the active involvement of our employees in their communities through volunteering their time and energy towards making local communities a bright place. Thanks to the team for your dedication to raising funds and for bringing their best game!

“It was a great weekend for an amazing cause with just as amazing co-workers!  Although we didn’t win the tournament we won in our hearts just being a part of the fundraising knowing that the money will be used to help kids that need it.” - Annette Brown, Power Hitters team captain and Administrative Assistant at FortisBC.
