​If you’re like me, someone who has oil change appointments booked for the next three years, knowing what’s coming and having a plan is what helps you sleep at night.

Monthly bills are no different. Consistently knowing what your bills will be each month is extremely helpful when it comes to managing a household budget.

For me, I was finding my FortisBC natural gas bills were lower in the summertime and higher in the winter months, due to typical usage changes based on outdoor temperatures.

The planner in me was thrilled to learn about FortisBC’s Equal Payment Plan, which helps you avoid seasonal fluctuations with monthly installments. Here’s how it works: we look at your energy use over the past year to calculate a monthly average. You will see your actual usage and your equal payment amount on each bill.

The installment amount is reviewed regularly and may be adjusted up or down so that your account is as close to $0 as possible after the 12 month plan has completed.
