​FortisBC, a leader in BC’s energy sector, has a variety of career opportunities available. Our online system is the way to search and apply for jobs that interest you.

How do I apply for a job at FortisBC?

All job applications are completed using our online system. We require all job seekers to apply online to reduce paper use and allow us to collect candidate consent.

You can browse our career site for current job opportunities, and when you find a job you’re interested in, click Apply now at the bottom of the page. If you’re a first-time candidate, you will be prompted to register and create a profile with your education and experience. If you’re a returning candidate, you may edit and re-use your existing profile to apply for different job opportunities with FortisBC.

Will I receive confirmation that my application has been received?

Yes, once you submit the online application for a job posting, you’ll receive an email notification confirming your application has been received.

Can I apply in person or via fax, mail or email?

All applications must be submitted online via our career site. Our online system reduces the amount of paper used in the recruitment process and allows us to efficiently collect the candidate consent and profile information we need to assess your application. By applying online, you also create a profile on our career site, which you may use to apply for other FortisBC job opportunities.

I forgot my password. How do I reset it?

You can reset your password from the career site login page. Click on the Retrieve password link. You will need to provide the email address that is registered on our site as part of your profile, and the system will generate a new temporary password and send it to your email address.

Once logged in, you can create a new password on the Update Your Info tab.

I applied online; why haven’t I received a call back?

Due to the volume of applications we receive, we cannot contact all applicants. Our talent sourcing team will review your resume against the job requirements, as well as other candidates, and contact those who are the best match for the position.

Do I have to answer all the online questions and profile sections even if the answers are in my resume?

​Yes, questions that include an asterisk are mandatory. These questions help us identify you as a potential candidate. If the question is not relevant to you, please enter "not applicable" in the space provided.

Is a cover letter required for all applications?

​A cover letter is optional; however, it does help us to get to know you better.

How long does the recruitment process take at FortisBC?

The recruitment timelines vary depending on the position. We generally follow up with short-listed candidates within two to three weeks. Our typical process includes a pre-screening interview, face-to-face interview, assessment and pre-employment checks. Overall, the process from start to finish can take six to eight weeks before selection and a job offer is finalized.

My resume is out of date. How can I update it?

You can update your information at any time by logging in to your profile with your email address and password. Go to current job opportunities and click Login on the right side of your screen.

Once you log in, click the Update Your Info tab.

What is the interview process like at FortisBC?

A job interview is a two-way exchange of information. We want to learn if you are a good fit for a position, and you want to know if the position is right for you and your career goals. 

Based on the premise that past behaviour is the best predictor of future behaviour on the job, behavioural interviewing is a style used to help assess your suitability for a position.

You can expect:

  • to be interviewed by at least two people 
  • to be asked questions about your skills and competencies that are relevant to the position you applied for
  • to be asked behavioural interview questions

Here are some tips to prepare:

  • Review and understand the position you have applied for. 
  • Be prepared to provide specific examples pertaining to skills and accomplishments relevant to the position you applied for. 
  • Present yourself in a professional manner. This includes communication skills, grooming, dress and non-verbal behaviours such as body language and eye contact.
What if I don’t see a job opportunity that I am interested in and qualified for?

​Please check our website regularly and apply for positions as they become available.  You can create an online profile where you can upload your current resume and information so that it is in our system to make it easier to apply for a position later.

I am having issues with my online application. Is there another way to apply?

​Unfortunately, due to the high volume of applications we receive, this is the only way we can receive your application. 

Here are some troubleshooting options if you are having technical issues:

Browser settings

Try a browser such as Chrome, Safari, Internet Explorer or Firefox to create your account or to sign in. If you are using an older version of a web browser, our website may not work.

Trouble uploading resume

Your resume needs to be in an acceptable format to be uploaded into our system:

  • Microsoft Word
  • Some PDF (scanned images/documents are not accepted)
  • .txt

If you are having issues uploading a PDF, please try uploading it in a Word format.

I forgot to include a cover letter or documents with my application. How do I do that after I’ve already applied?

​Log into your profile and click on "Upload document" under "Update Your Info".  You can continue to add and update documents in this section until the job has closed.
