Stakeholder engagement

Stakeholder engagement is vital to the LTRP process. Our stakeholders provide valuable input into the LTRP and our role in meeting BC’s future energy needs.

For the 2017 LTRP, we are building on improvements to the scope and quality of stakeholder engagement activities from the 2014 LTRP. We are planning a number of initiatives throughout BC for 2016 and 2017 to offer stakeholders the opportunity to participate in discussions to inform the LTRP. These activities include workshops with a dedicated Resource Planning Advisory Group (RPAG) and community engagement workshops in the communities we serve.

Long term resource planning and related stakeholder engagement is an ongoing process. Email us at for information about future resource planning workshops.

Community engagement workshops

We are planning to conduct the following two rounds of community engagements:

Lower Mainland & Vancouver Island Spring 2017

Resource Planning Advisory Group (RPAG)

The RPAG is a technical working group that engages members from municipalities, government, First Nations, customer associations, environmental organizations, and others in developing the LTRP. This group of energy industry experts, relevant government and First Nations participants and other key stakeholders meets regularly during the planning process to discuss important energy issues affecting utility long term resource planning.

Terms of Reference

The current Terms of Reference for the natural gas RPAG governs the composition of and interactions between the RPAG membership (including FortisBC). These Terms are periodically updated to enhance RPAG interactions and to reflect updates in the planning environment.
