FortisBC is a member of the Canadian Electricity Association (CEA) , and a participant in the Environmental Commitment & Responsibility program (ECR), launched by CEA members in 1997. Participants in the ECR program must make a commitment to continuous improvement of their environmental management and performance. As such, FortisBC’s participation in the ECR program means building upon existing environmental initiatives while strengthening FortisBC’s Environmental Management System (EMS). A robust EMS provides the means for identifying environmental priorities, objectives and targets, and monitoring how well they are being managed.
