Interim Rate Increase

The British Columbia Utilities Commission (BCUC) has approved an interim increase of 0.8% to FortisBC’s electricity rates effective May 1, 2008. This is a direct result of BC Hydro’s recent interim rate increase, which has increased FortisBC’s cost to purchase power from BC Hydro by 5.06%.

This is an interim rate increase.  Should the BC Hydro rate increase not be approved by the BCUC as filed, any adjustment would be refunded by FortisBC to its customers.

The 0.8% rate increase will be added on to the customer rates outlined below. The increase will appear on customer bills as an Interim Rate Increase charge. Customer bills issued after May 1, 2008 will be pro-rated to reflect the rate increase. Charges incurred prior to May 1, 2008 will be billed at the previous rate, and charges thereafter will be billed at the new rate.
