We’ve teamed up with BC Hydro to help you wash your inefficiencies away.
Purchase a qualifying ENERGY STAR washing machine and you’ll receive a $75 rebate. In addition to the rebate, you could save money on your energy bills too, because these models use less mechanical energy and less water. That may equal natural gas savings if you wash your clothes in warm or hot water.
Choose ENERGY STAR
As of January 1, 2011 only the top energy efficient models available in the market are eligible to use the ENERGY STAR symbol. These models:
- use less energy while delivering optimum cleaning performance
- use 35 to 50 per cent less water
- extract more water from clothes during the spin cycle reducing time in the dryer, thereby saving money on energy bills
- have no agitator, which may reduce wear and tear on your clothes
What washing machines qualify?
Only select Tier 3 ENERGY STAR washing machines qualify for the rebate. This rating is only given to the most efficient washing machines available today.
How to apply for the rebate
Step 1. Purchase a qualifying model
Step 2. Choose one of two application form options.
With both options, you'll need to print the form, sign it and mail it in. The web form version saves time and is designed to speed up delivery of the rebate.
Web form application: Complete BC Hydro’s Appliance Rebate Program application form online, submit and then print.

Step 3. Complete your application, sign and attach receipts and submit within 90 days to:

Terms and conditions
- To qualify, the clothes washer must be ordered, purchased and paid for in full between January 1 and June 30, 2012.
- Applications must be submitted within 90 days in order to qualify.
- Only one $75 clothes washer rebate per account holder.
