You know how to save money. We can help you save more.
BC Hydro and Fortis BC partnered to provide free energy saving kits for low income households. Our free kit contains energy-saving products that may help you use less heat and electricity. The items are easy to install, too.
The kit includes:
- a low-flow showerhead
- faucet aerators
- weatherstripping
- window film
- pipe insulation
- outlet and switch gaskets
- hot water gauge
- compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs), a fridge and freezer thermometer, and efficient night light.
How to save $100 a year
Use all the items in the kit and practice energy saving habits, and you could save $100* a year! Don't believe it? Switch to the low-flow showerhead, take five-minute showers, install the rest of the kit and watch your energy bill shrink.
*Based on an average Lower Mainland four person home as of October 1, 2011 with gas heated space and water using items in the kit and limiting showers to five minutes.
