If you are an industrial FortisBC customer consuming more than 10,000 gigajoules (GJs) of natural gas per year for process heating, you may qualify for up to a 100 per cent rebate (up to a maximum of $40,000) towards the cost of an energy audit.
This audit may identify energy efficiency measures that could reduce natural gas use, saving money on energy costs. Additionally, FortisBC may use the audit findings to develop future incentive programs for equipment upgrades.
Ways to save energy could include:
- Keep your boiler clean. One millimetre of scale build-up may increase fuel consumption by up to two per cent per year.
- Right-size your pipes:
- Oversized pipes may increase capital and insulation costs and result in higher surface heat losses.
- Undersized pipes require higher pressure, possibly resulting in higher leakage losses and requiring extra pumping energy.
Program overview
- Applicants must be pre-approved by FortisBC prior to undertaking an audit.
- The audit must be conducted by a certified energy manager (CEM) and/or professional engineer (P.Eng.).
- Once the application is approved and the audit completed to FortisBC’s requirements, we may fund up to 100 per cent of the audit’s total cost, up to a maximum of $40,000, depending on your annual gas consumption and willingness to follow through with an energy efficiency retrofit recommended in your energy audit report.
Apply in three steps
- Download the Industrial Energy Audit funding application
