Look for ENERGY STAR appliances
Appliances come with two price tags – the purchase price and the long term cost to operate. Appliances designated as ENERGY STAR are more energy efficient, costs less to run and may qualify for rebates.
Purchase a select ENERGY STAR qualified clothes washer, dishwasher, refrigerator or an ENERGY STAR qualified freezer and be eligible for the following rebates:

An extra $20 when your retailer hauls away your old fridge. |
Must purchase new refrigerator in order to have the old one picked up - pick up must be arranged with the appliance retailer at the time of purchase.
Old refrigerator must be picked up at the same time as the new item is delivered.
Old refrigerator must be more than 10 years old and in working condition and be a minimum of 250 litres in gross volume. |

How to apply
Step 1. Check to make sure appliance qualifies.
Purchase a qualifying appliance. To claim a rebate on a fridge, dishwasher or freezer, please complete the rebate application form. Read the terms and conditions.
Step 2. Save the rebate form to your computer and complete.
Step 3. Read the terms and conditions.
Step 4. Print and mail in completed form with copy of receipts showing purchases to:

Step 5. Receive credit on your electric bill within 90 days.
When looking at new appliances, be sure to check the EnerGuide label. The label provides you with information about the average annual energy consumption in kilowatt hours (kWh’s), as well as how it compares with other models of the same appliance. The lower the number on the label, the less energy it will use.
Qualifying appliances
Clothes washers must have a Modified Energy Factor (MEF) of 2.4 or higher and a Water Factor (WF) of 4.0 or lower.
Refrigerators must be at least 25 per cent more efficient than the federal standard. Rebate does not qualify on compact fridges.
All ENERGY STAR labelled freezers and dishwashers are eligible for the rebate.
