Building a LEED® home

Building a LEED® home

For Matt Johnston and Grace Pontes, it’s both the journey and the destination that count as they embark on building their dream home, Glasswing. They’ve chosen to go beyond conventional building standards by challenging themselves to build the first LEED® residential home in the Okanagan.

Although it will be architecturally beautiful, Glasswing will also be a stellar example of sustainable building and energy conservation. For those that follow along their journey, it will demonstrate the type of new home that’s possible and attainable as builders, designers, architects and owners take the lead in creating energy conscious, sustainable homes.

Follow Matt and Grace on their journey and discover firsthand the challenges, decisions and possible solutions faced as a builder/architect leads the way to new ways of thinking about sustainable, energy saving building practices.
