What are the academic pre-requisites for joining the pre-apprenticeship program?

It is recommended that applicants have a high school level diploma It is recommended that applicants have a high school level diploma and have successfully completed the following subjects:

  • Academic Math 11
  • Academic English 12
  • Physics 11
What kind of experience is recommended?

Experience in the electrical field is an asset, and any form of post-secondary electrical education is highly recommended as well. A Class 3 License with an air brake endorsement is also required for entrance into the program.​

What if I have a diploma in electrical engineering?

An electrical engineering diploma is a great asset, but it is not a prerequisite to enter the program.​

Are there any college/Trade Schools that I can complete a Pre-apprentice program at?

Yes. Kwantlen University College's pre-apprenticeship program is recognized by FortisBC, but it should be noted that once completed, completion of FortisBC’s pre-apprenticeship program is still required.​

How will I know if FortisBC is accepting applicants to its PLT Training Programs?

PLT training program openings are posted on FortisBC’s website under Current Opportunities.​
