January 1, 2012 Interim Rate Increase
On November 30, 2011, as part of FortisBC’s 2012 – 2013 Revenue Requirements Application, the BC Utilities Commission issued Order G-199-11 which approved FortisBC’s interim 2011 rates as firm and approved an interim increase of 1.5 percent, effective January 1, 2012.
Pending the outcome of a public process with respect to FortisBC’s 2012-2013 Revenue Requirements application, FortisBC may refund all or a portion of the interim increase to its customers.
January 1, 2012 Rate Rebalancing
FortisBC began rate rebalancing on May 1, 2011, as a result of the BC Utilities Commission’s decision on FortisBC’s 2009 Rate Design Application and Cost of Service Analysis.
The BC Utilities Commission also ordered FortisBC to implement future rate rebalancing adjustments for the period of 2012-2015 effective on January 1 for each respective year. The year 2 rebalancing adjustments for affected rate classes are listed in the table below.
The below rates are subject to a 1.5 percent interim rate increase, as stated above.
Residential Rates
Bi-monthly Residential Service:
Customer Charge $30.07 based on 60 day billing period. All kWh are billed @ 9.447¢ per kWh.
Time of Use
Customers billed under the Time Of Use schedule (Time Of Use meter required) will be billed a standard charge of $30.07 per two month period plus consumption billed at the rates below:
Summer (July, August)
On-Peak Hours:
- 9:00 am - 11:00 am Monday - Friday: 15.851¢ / kWh
- 3:00 pm - 11:00 pm Monday - Friday: 15.851¢ / kWh
Off-Peak Hours:
- 11:00 pm - 9:00 am Monday - Friday: 5.133¢ / kWh
- 11:00 am - 3:00 pm Monday - Friday: 5.133¢ / kWh
- All hours on Saturday and Sunday: 5.133¢ / kWh
All other months
On-Peak Hours:
- 8:00 am - 1:00 pm Monday - Friday: 15.851¢ / kWh
- 5:00 pm - 10:00 pm Monday - Friday: 15.851¢ / kWh
Off-Peak Hours:
- 10:00 pm - 8:00 am Monday - Friday: 5.133¢ / kWh
- 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm Monday - Friday: 5.133¢ / kWh
- All hours on Saturday and Sunday: 5.133¢ / kWh
Small Commercial Service:
This rate is for non-residential customers whose electrical demand is generally not more than 40 kW and can be supplied through one meter.
Customer Charge $31.92 based on 60 day billing period.
All kWh are billed @ 8.386¢ per kWh.
Commercial Service:
This rate is for non-residential customers whose electrical demand is generally greater than 40 kW but less than 500 kW and can be supplied through one meter.
Customer Charge $15.01 based on 30 day billing period.
Demand Charge of $7.84 per kW of Billing Demand above 40 kW
First 8000 kWh are billed @ 7.890¢ per kWh.
Balance of kWh are billed @ 6.550¢ per kWh.
